NEIGHBORS

Experience all that our area has to offer from Hudson River explorations, hikes both relaxing and strenuous, local farms and animals, farm to table restaurants, antiquing and apple picking, swimming holes and all sorts of off-the-beaten-path adventures. Conveniently located at the corner of Route 81 and 9W, you’ll find a Tops supermarket, a gas station, a pharmacy, the local YMCA and a medical emergency center. For a quick bite head to nearby Paul's Pizza or opt for the delicious, all natural & organic bowls from Simone’s Kitchen. No stay in the Catskills is complete without a farm visit. For all your barbecue needs and the best cow’s and goat cheese visit our neighbors at the Lime Kiln Farm. On your way back stop by the Boehm Farm to pick up some apples, cider and home made jams. For a great selection of fresh organic produce from the area stop by at the Black Horse Farm on 9W or pick your own strawberries at Story Farms. For a great selection of wine take a stroll alongside the beautiful Hudson waterfront in Coxsackie and stop by the Reed Street Bottle Shop. Opposite you'll find Mansion Reed's guesthouse run by the charming twin sisters Lia and Justine who restored the general store to its former glory and sell artisan products of the Hudson Valley, right next to the the cutest stationary and gift shop Pilothouse Paper. Every Wednesday check out the Farmer’s Market in Coxsackie right next to River.

Are you a Yogi? You will love our Manduka Pro-Lite mats and props for all your guests. We're happy to recommend a local teacher for a private yoga class for your group. You're welcome to join the local YMCA for a day, use the free public tennis courts located next to the Coxsackie Athens Middle School. If you like to see the latest movie you're in for a night under the stars at the charming Coxsackie Drive-In Theatre on 9W or nearby Greenville's outdoor cinema

If you’re interested in historic places don’t miss out on a tour through the Broncks House and Museum. It’s in walking distance and one of the oldest houses in America. Our library has books about all the historic places in the Hudson Valley, Olana across the river at the Rip van Wrinkle Bridge or Clermont on 9E are just a few other beautiful mansions to visit within 1/2 hours drive.

If you stay with us I’m sure you have a love for old and beautiful things. Our place is the best starting point for your antique treasure hunt. For antiquing around the corner we recommend the Coxsackie Antique Center on 9W showcasing the wares of 100 local dealers and across the river is the town of Hudson, famous for some of the most eclectic antique shops in the country. A stroll along picturesque Warren Street takes you to dozens of shops ranging from high-end stores with fine period pieces to unique little boutiques. There are also some nice restaurants. My personal favorites are the Swoon Kitchenbar, Lil and Deb's Oasis , Home/Made Hudson,  The Maker Hotel, Restaurant and Lounge , the Backbar, WMFarmer and Sons, Hudson Brewery and Feast and Floret. For a culinary experience closer to home we recommend the charming town of Athens with the ultimate weekend-retreat bakery/café Athens Rooster with an urban country vibe and best cinnamon buns. For lunch and dinner across the street check out the brewery with an excellent IPA and burgers at Crossroads. For history and magic directly at the river visit the Stewart House ca. 1883 Tavern, where cocktails are expertly crafted and your meal is locally sourced and prepared with precision and care by chef Bob Turner. They specialize in comfort food made from scratch with a modern twist and summers are best spent in their outdoor restaurant overlooking the water. For a classic diner experience head over for lunch or dinner to Gracie's in Leeds with a terrific atmosphere and awesome burgers https://www.graciestruckny.com

For all your outdoor activities check out the Great Northern Catskills website for an exhaustive listing of everything to do in the area. Hunter Mountain and Windham are qa 30min drive from us offering some of the best skiing, mountain biking, zip-lines and hiking in the Catskills. For a hike around the corner head over to Four Mile Point Preserve, the official hike is a short, kid-friendly walk near the river. A longer walk continues on along 4 Mile Point Road as it winds beside the river and through Vosburg Swamp, a protected wildlife management area. Hannacroix Creek Preserve features 4 main trails taking you along the creek and through native woodlands. Irving Trail takes you down to the New Baltimore swimming hole, but my favorite swimming waterhole in the Catskills is in Leeds, NY. Willows at Brandow Point is a hike through expansive wildflower fields and then down through forested land until you reach the river. If you like chasing waterfalls a visit to the Kaaterskill Falls is a must, closely followed by the nearby North-South Lake.

For horseback riding check out K&K Equestrian Center at Ravine Farm. For our younger guests there's a great waterpark in East Durham. Zoom Flume is open from end of June through Memorial Day. Alternatively there’s a zoo and riding stables at Bailiwick Animal Park in the town of Catskills.
